Photo snatched from the facebook group: "Leh We Talk". |
The early morning queues leading to the latrines, the most disgusting of all the queues.
The ones at the water wells, streams and few running taps, where people quarrel and fight for a bucket of water to quench their thirst.
Those at the gas stations.
The never ending traffic queues along Fourah Bay Road, Kissy Road, etc. etc.
The students’ queue at Model School Junction, which is leading to Fourah Bay College, once regarded as the Athens of West Africa.
In the banks.
Those at the hospitals.
Not forgetting about those of the unemployed and underemployed youths, especially those in their 45s, unavoidably still regarding themselves as “YOUTHS”.
The unschooled.
Etc. etc.
And then, I would resign into thanking God, “for the creation of a world, such a wonderful a place to live in, with so many disparities, just like the beautiful stars above”.
And in a very low tone, I would mummor to myself, 'If people actually think that their economy is really tough, things are really hard, why can’t they visit Sierra Leone just for an HOUR? I mean just ONE HOUR. Wouldn't it then be time to tell whether their economy was really tough and things were really hard?'
Do you know the good thing?
The Sierra Leone economy is really good and things are very, very fine. Thank You God, thank You God, we have no reason for complaining at all. So, therefore we say:
“Highly We Exalt Thee,
Realm of the Free,
Great is the Love We Have for Thee,
Firmly We United,
Ever We Stand…”
We give You all the Glory, thank You God.
